YERBA LOCA, CHILE

SCROLL DOWN TO SEE PICTURES

Just outside Santiago, and practically outside our door is the Chilean Provincial Park called Yerba Loca.  Beginning in a valley with cactus, pine and eucalyptus trees, the rocky trail rises into the Andean foothills.  Along a glacier fed stream, the trail steepens while the crowds and air begin to thin.  A few miles in, Glacier Paloma shows her giant, icy whiteness high in the distance.  Nothing prevents the intrepid from going as far as they like in this alpine paradise.
